Overview

Driveway paving in Seattle.

Most Seattle homes have a tough situation for a driveway: sloped lots, heavy trees, saturated subgrade, and real freeze-thaw a couple times a winter. A good driveway isn't just hot mix on dirt, it's proper grade, proper base, proper drainage, and the right thickness for your use case. We walk the site, measure the slopes, check where the water wants to go, and build a driveway that does its job quietly for twenty years.

What we install

Single-car driveways, double drives, long rural approaches, shared driveways, RV and boat parking pads, and connections between existing driveways and new garages or ADUs. Tear-out and replace, overlay on solid base, or new construction with a fresh subgrade, all handled in-house.

Why drainage is the whole game

In the PNW, water under your pavement is what kills asphalt. Flat driveways pool, poorly-sloped drives dump water at your garage, and driveways without a subsurface plan turn to mush when the clay below saturates. We grade every driveway with purpose, route water where it needs to go, and sometimes recommend a drain line or swale if the site calls for it. A $200 trench saves a $20,000 replacement.

Ballpark pricing

A new two-car residential driveway in Seattle typically runs $4,500 to $9,000 for an overlay on good base, or $8,000 to $18,000 for a full tear-out and re-pave with drainage corrections. Prices scale with square footage, access and site conditions. We quote every job in writing, no surprises mid-project.

FAQs

Common questions
about driveway paving.

Most Seattle residential driveway jobs are done in 1 to 3 days start to finish. Tear-out day one, grade and base prep day two (or same day on smaller drives), pave and finish day three. Larger or more complicated sites can run into a week.
Not always. If the base is still solid and only the top layer is cracked or faded, an overlay (resurfacing) adds 10 to 15 years at a fraction of the cost. If the base has failed or drainage has been wrong for years, it needs a full rebuild. We tell you straight which one fits your driveway.
Yes. If your neighborhood has a consistent look, we can match thickness, edge style, and even apron treatment. We also handle custom transitions to concrete, stamped concrete aprons, and stone borders.
A common PNW problem. Big roots under a driveway will eventually crack the surface. We can't cut major roots without risking the tree, but we can design a thicker mat, flexible edges, or a root barrier trench along the side of the driveway to give your paving a fighting chance.
